Community Connector Increases Access to Services

Join us in welcoming North Helpline’s new staff member Melanie Estes.  She is stepping into the newly created role of Community Connector, helping clients access services to stabilize their families.  You might recognize Melanie, because she has worked with North Helpline in the past as an AmeriCorps service member as well as a board member.

As Community Connector, Melanie will complete needs assessments including referrals, applications, and enrollments in various benefits and resources.  Clients can access programs including Apple Health, nutrition, child care, utility discounts, housing services and more.  Assisting clients with job readiness and job searching is another part of the Community Connector role.  800 clients visit North Helpline for services every week, and many of them will seize the opportunity to connect with benefits and resources beyond what is provided by North Helpline emergency services and food bank.
