Empty Bowls, our annual silent auction, was a good time for all and a successful fundraiser reaching just over $40,000. We were able to share our neighbors’ voices through a special video. Qween Bee shared how her unexpected experience with homelessness made her aware of the importance of the food bank, and Trisha emphasized the nutrition available at North Helpline. Zach and Richie are currently experiencing homelessness, and they described the importance of a variety of services they access through North Helpline.
Everyone who attended received a hand-crafted ceramic bowl as a symbol of the importance of making sure our neighbors have food on the table.
We shared lunch with our community, enjoying soups from local restaurants. Special thanks to Piatti Italian Restaurant, Tubs Gourmet Subs, Watershed, Judy Fu’s Snappy Dragon, Kaffeeklatsch, Ivar’s, Lake Forest Bar and Grill, and Jalisco Mexican Restaurant.
Overall, Empty Bowls was a wonderful way to celebrate our community while supporting our neighbors who deserve adequate food, housing, and respect.
Special thanks to all who supported Empty Bowls, including donors, volunteers, and sponsors of the event!
