North Helpline Bitter Lake’s food bank serves the residents of the 98115, 98125, 98133, 98155, 98177, 98011, and 98028. We do not turn anyone away who comes to us for food. To visit, our food bank clients need to register for a food bank card.
As of July 1, 2017 North Helpline will be operating a second food bank in the Bitter Lake neighborhood. We are excited about this opportunity to better serve our neighbors in Northwest Seattle.

Food Bank Hours
Saturday 10 am – 2 pm (first and third Saturdays of the month)
Our goal is to scale up operations to distribute food every Saturday by the end of 2017.
How to get a food bank card
To register for the food bank please bring the following items for every member of the household to the office any time during Food Bank Hours.
For Adults (18 year and older)
- Picture ID (driver’s license or passport)
- Proof of address (a piece of mail)
- Proof of Disability if applicable (Bus pass, SSDI, etc)
Children 0 – 17 years old just need some sort of identification (driver’s license, medical card, school ID, social security card, Passport, Birth Certificate etc)
How to visit the food bank
North Helpline Bitter Lake is located on the bottom of the SHAG senior housing building on the corner of Linden and 130th in the courtyard of the building.
Occasionally bags or boxes are available, but we advise clients to bring their own shopping bags if they have them.
A check-in computer is located inside, where clients present their North Helpline Food Bank Card to receive services. All clients are asked to keep their Food Bank Card accessible, and show it to volunteers working on the distribution line, as the number of family members determines the amount of food families are eligible to receive.
North Helpline serves a wide variety of family sizes, dietary needs, and taste preferences. We aim to provide an appropriate amount of food for all.
What if I lose or forget my card?
Clients who do not have their card with them when they visit the Food Bank will need to speak to a staff member or volunteer to get a temporary or replacement card before going through the food bank line.
No Cook Bags are available specifically for homeless clients. Each bag contains a drink, canned fruit, an entrée (like soup or chili), snacks, and a fork. Homeless clients can receive up to one No Cook Bag per day.
