There are several ways you can contribute to North Helpline and our mission to serve those in need.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Unload Food: Friday mornings from 8:00 - 2:00 we can use the help of volunteers to unload Food Lifeline and Northwest Harvest food trucks.
Sort Food: We need volunteers to sort food donations for the food bank as the trucks are unloaded.

Food Distribution: Saturday mornings and/or afternoons and from 10:00 - 1:30 on Wednesdays we need people to assist with food distribution.

Food Pick-up: Everyday of Week, help pick up food donations at local grocery stores (must have food handlers permit and be able to lift 50 pounds).

On-Call Volunteer: Do you only have a few hours each month to spare? Become an on-call volunteer to help as needed, and assist with data entry, mailings, and other special projects.

In addition, we appreciate any financial donation you can afford. Find out what your financial contribution will do.

Want to have some fun, do something worthwhile, and feel good about it?? BE A VOLUNTEER at North Helpline and the Lake City Food Bank.

Just what is a volunteer? In the case of North Helpline and Lake City Food Bank that is someone who chooses to do something to make a better life for someone else.

Who are these volunteers? They range from those who spend a few hours a week or a month making good things happen, for those who are in need. Folks at grocery stores, who donate a variety of foods to keep the Food Bank running. Folks who shop at grocery stores, who buy extra and donate it directly to the Food Bank, or through bags of groceries donated through the store itself. The folks at Starbucks who instead of throwing away left over pastries at the end of the day, box them up for a volunteer to pick up the next morning, to be shared with those in need. (I wonder sometimes if they order extras just to make sure there are pastries to share).

For me, volunteering means spending a few hours each week, helping at the Food Bank or North Helpline, making sure donated materials get consumer ready, and get placed in the hands that need those things. Volunteerism is a rewarding activity which helps others and gives me a since of being useful in this world. A couple of years ago I didn't even know about North Helpline and the Lake City Food Bank. I just kept my yard looking pretty, made little things in my woodworking shop, and "kept busy". In the last couple of years, I've learned how to be more helpful to those in my own community. It's a pretty good feeling. It's also given me opportunity to work with others who "make a difference". That feels good too!

Volunteers at North Helpline and the Food Bank come in all ages, sizes and colors, but they all have one thing in common - joy of life, and need to share. They are happy people who share their time, their smiles and their energy with their co-workers, and their clients.

Thank you all for making a difference in my life.
