Alexandra came to the Seattle area in 2015 after completing her masters degree in international development, focusing on sexual reproductive health and rights in relation to economic empowerment from the University of Amsterdam.

She was born and raised just outside London. Her business, Collier Consulting, works with organizations in the United States and globally on diversity, inclusion and equity.

She first learned of North Helpline through a friend, saying she’s always been interested in efforts to limit or stop the cycle of poverty and homelessness. She joined the board in 2021.

North Helpline has “a very participatory relationship” with the neighbors using its programs, she said.

The organization’s food distribution programs try to respond when clients make suggestions, such as for kosher or halal food items, she said. “People feel respected.”

She sees the organization’s emphasis on inclusivity in the mix of people coming to North Helpline for food — young families, older adults, immigrants and people who have lived in Seattle all their lives. “That says a lot. Everyone feels welcome and included.”
