Community Connector, Bitter Lake

Pronouns: She/Her

The drive to serve others “came naturally to me,” says Kissy Gaston. She describes her childhood as growing up in a household of church kids.

Her parents were both missionaries, so the family moved around the United States and spent time living in the Caribbean and South America.

The family moved to the Seattle area when she was 13. She attended West Seattle High School  and earned an associate degree in human services and a bachelors degree in applied behavioral science from Seattle Central College.

Kissy began her work as the community connector at Bitter Lake in June 2022.

Before coming to North Helpline she worked at Communities Rise, a nonprofit in south Seattle that provides legal and technical support to nonprofits and provides services to small businesses. She also has worked as a paralegal.

Born in Puerto Rico, she is bilingual in Spanish.

Kissy said she was drawn to working at North Helpline due to her desire to help provide  “real hands-on helping of others.”
